OVERVIEW

Chile is the longest country in the world, stretching down the South American continent where centuries ago Native Americans settled in the fertile valleys between the Pacific coastline to the west and the Andes Mountains to the east. Journeying through Chile see landscapes as diverse as snow-capped mountains reflected in clear lakes, the geological sites of the desert of Atacama, and the lush vineyards of the Wine Country.

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN SANTIAGO

Arrival to day in Santiago de Chile, the capital and largest city in Chile, set within the fertile plains of the Central Valley between the snow-capped Andes Mountains to the east and the sun-soaked Pacific to the West. Transfer and check-into your hotel, with the remainder of time at leisure to relax or explore the city on your own.

DAY 2 - SANTIAGO CITY TOUR

Sightseeing this morning highlights will include the city's old residential area, the University area, the financial city centre where the La Moneda government palace, the Main Square and its buildings are the main highlights. Continue to the green Parque Forestal to view the building that houses the Fine Arts Museum. (B)

DAY 3 - SANTIAGO - DAY TOUR TO VALPARAISO & VINA DEL MAR

Leave Santiago by the coastal Route 68 which connects Santiago with the port of Valparaiso. Cross the Casablanca valley, a wine growing area to reach the port of Valparaiso a World Heritage site. Stroll the narrow alleys and also have the opportunity to experience the old funiculars that made this picturesque city famous. Head to Vina del Mar and visit its beaches before returning to Santiago. (B)

DAY 4 - SANTIAGO - HALF DAY WINERY TOUR

Drive to Conch y Toro winery. Enjoy a glass of Sauvignon Blanc at the El Marques park Among the Winery's main attractions are its ancient cellars where you will learn about the famous legend that has made Chilean wine known worldwide. Once inside the winery, you will discover the character of traditional Chilean grape varieties of "Marques de Casa Concha" Merlot. Return to Santiago. (B)

DAY 5 - SANTIAGO - DAY TOUR TO YERBA LOCA NATURE SANCTUARY

In summer the mountain shines with a thousand colours, generating countless possibilities for adventure and exploration. Abundant bird life is found at all elevations but those who venture along the higher trails may be rewarded with glimpses of eagles and condors. (B/Box Lunch)

DAY 6 - SANTIAGO - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Calama. On arrival transfer and check into your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Later visit an area of the desert located at 8km from San Pedro de Atacama, where you can walk and enjoy a great geological spectacle that has been repeatedly compared with the surface of the moon. Visit the salt caverns before climbing the mayor sand dune where you can marvel at the kaleidoscope of colours that appear over the Andes at sunset. (B)

DAY 7 - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

An excursion to visit Toconao town which is located at 2,475 meters. It is an oasis, where people cultivate all types of fruit. In front of its square are the Church and Bell Tower of San Lucas, declared a National Monument. The Atacama saltlake is located in the centre of the most barren desert of the world. Salt fields and salt lakes are abundant in this area. You will have the opportunity to admire the great variety of flamingoes and migratory birds that have found in the enormous salt their natural habitat. Enjoy a spectacular sunset, enjoying the silence and the peace of of the salt before returning to your hotel. (B)

DAY 8 - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - VISIT TO EL TATIO GEYSERS

Early morning departure for an excursion to El tatio Geysers, a geothermal field flanked by soaring Andean peaks. This is one of the highest geyser fields in the world. At dawn, powerful spurts of steam erupt out of the ground through various blowholes, and the vision of the steaming geysers against the deep blue desert sky may be one of your most enduring memories of your visit here. Return to your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. (B)

DAY 9 - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA DEPARTURE

Transfer from your hotel to the airport in Calama for your departure flight. (B)
