Visit the Portuguese stilt houses, Dutch Forts and British tea plantations in this itinerary that covers Colonial era Sri Lanka.
DAY 1 - COLOMBO ARRIVAL
On arrival in Colombo you will be met by your private driver who will take you directly to the Colombo Hilton for check-in. Enjoy this afternoon relaxing or take a city tour.
DAY 2 - COLOMBO | POLONNARUWA | HABARANA
Your first visit is Polonnaruwa, which was the ancient capital of Sri Lanka from the eleventh to thirteenth centuries and the repository of outstanding ruins, frescoes and enormous statues of the reclining Buddha.
Continue to Habarana where you will check into the Cinnamon Lodge. (B)
DAY 3 - HABARANA |SIGRIYA | DASMBULLA |MATALE | KANDY
Leave for Sigiriya where the Lion Rock rises 360 meters above sea level. While it is not a Buddhist pilgrimage site, it is very important historically and archaeologically and is one of the UNESCO cultural Triangle sites.
Next stop is the Rajamaha Temple of Rangiri Dambulla (Golden Rock Temple). Located north of Kandy and considered by most to be the centre point of Sri Lanka. Dambulla is a town built around a vast isolated rock mass and a World Heritage City, declared by UNESCO.
Proceed to Kandy via Mathale with an enroute visit to Matale Spice Garden. Check into the Mahaweli Reach Hotel.
Evening visit to Kandy Temple. The Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is the most venerated object of worship for Buddhists. Its present house, the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, is considered the foremost sacred place of worship in the Buddhist world. (B)
DAY 4 - PINNAWELA DAY VISIT
Leave for Pinnawela with an enroute visit to the Royal Botanical Garden This garden is the finest of its kind in Asia. Next visit Pinnawela Elephant orphanage. Return to Kandy and this evening attend a cultural show in Kandy.
DAY 5 - KANDY TO NUWARA ELIYA
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya enroute visiting a Tea Plkantation and Factory. Nuwara Eliya is a mountain station at 1,868 m, in a splendid landscape.
Check-in at the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya for overnight. (B)
DAY 6 - NUWARA ELIYA TO BENTOTA
Drive to Bentota via Kitulgala which was the film locatiion of the award winning movie by David Lean "The Bridge over the River Kwai".
Check into the Avani Bentota Hotel. (B)
DAY 7 - GALLE DAY VISIT
Morning at leisure.
Afternoon excursion to Galle and visit the 17th century Dutch Fortress, a traditional Devil Mask factory at Ambanalgoda. Return to Bentota for overnight. (B)
DAY 8 - BENTOTA DEPARTURE
Check out from your hotel and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
