China isn't a country - it's a different world. Unless you have a couple of years and unlimited patience, it's best to follow a structured and pre-reserved itinerary here, such as following the Silk Road, sailing down the Yangtze River, or exploring the Dr Seuss landscape of Guangxi Province.
From shop-till-you-drop metropolises to the desert landscapes of Xinjiang, China is a land of cultural and geographic schisms. It's not that it has completely done away with its Maoist past - it's more that the yin of revolutionary zeal is being balanced by the yang of economic pragmatism.
Our holiday specialists will carefully plan your itinerary for a truly individual tailor-made experience. Trips to China can be very busy with early mornings and long days, but we will ensure that you have time to rest, and also have time to enjoy time on your own. Domestic flights are used where necessary. Train travel is now becoming popular with the introduction of the new Bullet Trains on many inter-city routes. Our Itineraries offer you the best selection of destinations, you decide how and where to start discovering each of them. But we can assure you that the experience will be more than satisfactory.
China kept itself to itself for thousands of years, and foreigners still find it difficult to penetrate the inner depths of this fascinating country. There is a great deal to discover in this, the world's most populated country, with more than 1.3 billion citizens, and the third largest in the world territorially. What makes it attractive as a destination for Western tourists is its fascinating culture and valuable antiquities. Ruins and relics from Neolithic settlements and the dynastic reigns of the mighty emperors are there to behold, along with adventures along the legendary ancient trade routes, such as the Silk Road. The Forbidden Palace, Great Wall, and X'ian's Terracotta Army, are just some of the incredible attractions to be seen in this ancient Eastern empire.
The People's Republic of China has been under communist government since 1949, but is currently undergoing social and economic development. China has opened the doors to its wealth of historical and cultural treasures and visitors are flooding in to be amazed and awed. The major cities, like Beijing and Shanghai, are modern metropolises offering fast food and glitzy stores alongside centuries-old historical buildings and traditional eating houses. Archaeological wonders vie with amazing architecture in the interior, while majestic mountains and remote monasteries crown the northern areas.

When To Go to China
Spring (March-April) and autumn (September-October) are the best times to visit China, though the higher altitude areas of Tibet, Qinghai and Western Sichuan are best visited in high summer (June-September). Daytime temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F-86°F) in these seasons - but bear in mind that nights can still be bitterly cold and it can sometimes be wet and miserable. Major public holidays, in particular Chinese New Year, are best avoided as it's difficult to get around and/or find accommodation.
All our holidays are unique travel experiences, and therefore tailor-made to suit individual requirements. We do not publish prices on our website as they can vary enormously for tailor-made travel.
Prices are generally for private arrangements and are per person using economy class flights based on two people travelling together and sharing a room.
There are a number of factors which will influence the price of your travel arrangements, these include the standard of hotel (we offer a variety of standards from ‘three star’ to the super-luxurious), the season, the duration of your trip, the class of flights and the airline used, the level of private guiding and the complexity of the itinerary. Our specialists will be delighted to discuss the various options in more detail with you.
